I did this drawing down by the lake today. Just a quick sketch but it shows my current mindless process hehe.

I wanted to put together a few videos for people who are using photoshop and want to learn a few other things. These specifically are how to make your own brushes and a basic run down on how to use the art history brush. I hope you enjoy!

Here are a few older videos. They are how to draw videos and how to paint, mainly for people who have a bases on the subject already. They are geared toward people who want to learn to work in photoshop and painter. I know learning myself over the past few years that I learn some of my best tricks and processes by watching others work. I utilize the parts that helps me do something in new and better ways or even just to think about things differently which is another benefit.

I want to start recording a lot more of these videos on my normal projects. I think that will help beginning artists to develop.

Here is a new set of videos I did just a few months back. I made it specifically for my new youtube account and more specifically for aspiring comic book artists. I love comic books that have a painted quality to them. So I take this comic book character to another level. I take it to the normal level that comics have but take it a few steps further into a more traditional style painting.

In this first video I show how I start to develop a pose for my character. There are different ways to do this. Sometimes I start piece by piece but other times I will do a large rough sketch of the entire pose then continue to fill in the anatomy afterward. It is a good idea to do it all this way if you can, even if you are using paper, because then you get an accurate anatomical diagram to base your illustration on. THe thing about humans is that we see them every day, so if anything is off even just a little then you will know it intuitively.

The second video shows how I take the drawing from an anatomical drawing into an illustration. I put my reference on the side to develop the final drawing. If I wasnt recreating a premade character then I would probly have a small sketch of what I want to make. If this is the only drawing Ive done then I just create as I go and I would place other references on the outside. for instance to get some gloves right I might find a picture of gloves I like or have elements I like and place those on the side for reference. I would also save them for later use when painting.

Here is the final video showing I take my drawing into a finished painting. These videos tend to go fast but because all these steps can take a long time. This one however takes the longest because it involves so much mental computing. Please keep in mind also that this is only one way to paint. There are many many processes to paint a drawing. This one is one that I tend to use a lot as I have been developing it since I started drawing in the computer. On real mediums such as oils or watercolor you would a unique set of abilities to work with and boundaries to work within.
